Tips
- Every code is decoded again after it is drawn and compared with what you typed. When the line under the preview says verified, the pattern itself is sound — what is left to get right is contrast, size and the quiet zone.
- Higher error correction survives damage and logos but makes the code denser. Level M suits screens; use Q or H for anything printed, stickered, or carrying a logo.
- Always leave the light border — the quiet zone. Codes butted against artwork frequently fail to scan, which is why the check warns when you drop below four modules.
- SVG stays sharp at any size, which matters when the same code goes on a business card and a pull-up banner. In print, allow roughly half a millimetre per module.
- Shapes, gradients and logos all spend some of your scanning margin. If the code is going on something you cannot reprint, test the real print with two or three phones first.
Frequently asked questions
Do these codes expire or need an account?
No. The code is generated in your browser and encodes your data directly, so it works forever and there is no redirect service that could disappear. Nothing is uploaded.
How do I know the code will actually scan?
The page reads its own output back. After the matrix is built it is decoded again — format information, mask, de-interleaving and every Reed-Solomon block — and the result is compared with the text you entered. It also checks that your colours are dark-on-light with enough contrast, and that any logo stays inside what the error correction can repair.
Can I put a logo in the middle?
Yes. Rather than guessing from the headline percentage for the level, the page works out which error-correction blocks your logo covers and compares that with what each block can repair, then tells you how much of the budget you have spent. Level H and a logo under about a quarter of the width leaves comfortable room.
Why is my WiFi QR code not connecting?
The network name and password are case-sensitive, and hidden networks need the hidden flag set. Semicolons, commas and backslashes in a password are escaped for you. WPA3-only networks are also unreliable with older phone cameras.
How much data fits in one QR code?
Up to 2,953 bytes at error-correction level L, or 1,273 at level H. Digits and uppercase text pack far tighter than that suggests, and the encoder splits your content into numeric, alphanumeric and byte runs automatically to use the smallest code that fits.
